When diet is wrong, medication is of no use. When diet is correct, medication is of no need.

Food is Medicine

Already Hippocrates used to say „Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.“ However in modern days we often tend to forget the importance of healthy eating as we have everything we desire available, nearly 24h per day.

„You are what you eat“ is a saying that is 100% true. Ancient forms of medicine still believe that food can be a major component of a healing journey. In Ayurveda it is about keeping the Agni, the digestive fire, alive, in TCM it is about balancing the Chi, our life force.

Nowadays we tend to have a high level of inflammation in our bodies due to our way of living and our food choices, the right nutrition is a way to balance these and to bring back the Prana, not only into our physical bodies but effectively also into our mind and spirit.

Intentional Eating & Cooking

Healthy & nourishing food does not have to be restrictive, it does not have to be necessarily fully plant based and gluten-free, but it has to be aligned with the specific needs of your body type, digestive system and sometimes our soul! Food should make you feel alive, nourished, light and happy - not sluggish, tired and heavy. The Ayurvedic Dosha system can be of great help as well as a lunar cycle based diet for women. Focusing on high quality, local ingredients as well as the process of cooking, seeing cooking as a ritual, as a ceremony to care for your physical body will lead to new relationship with food. Whole foods, full of life, Prana are having an immense effect on our whole system, preparing food with love and good intention will not only end in better tasting food but also in a more nourishing meal.

Food is fuel for our body, mind and spirit - we need to take care of what we put into our system, nutrition is first thing we can change on our path to a more healthy and aligned way of living.

Ayurvedic Food - the ayurvedic diet is build on Doshas, bodytypes that are based on the five elements, mainly air (Vata Dosha), fire (Pitta Dosha) and earth (Kapha Dosha). Every individual carries all three doshas within, but usually has one-two dominant ones, which should stay balanced through nutrition in order to avoid inflammation. Ayurvedic food is usually cooked to aid digestion, full of warming and nourishing spices like cumin, coriander, cardamon & cinnamon, and contains six tastes to build a full, balanced meal. These six tastes are sweet, sour, astringent, salty, bitter and pungent - the focus varies for each dosha.

Plant Based - Whole plant based foods are the base of healthy eating. Whole foods mean literally non processed food, eating and foods in its purest form. A plant based diet supports gut health, which is where our "second brain" and emotions lay, it decreases inflammation and it is the most environmental friendly diet, if you stick to local ingredients. Supporting Mother Earth is one of our biggest aims, so it comes naturally to take care of our planet through our way of eating.

Animal Product - at Ayasana Wasi we are using organic eggs from our neighborhood for an extra source of Omega 3, to aid brain and liver functions and additionally to support the local community.
